Celebrating Winter Athletics & Gearing Up for Spring Competition
As the winter chill fades and the promise of spring fills the air, we're thrilled to share some exciting highlights from our winter sports season and look ahead to the spring activities that await our student-athletes. Thank you to our student-athletes, coaches, families, staff and fans for a wonderful winter season!

Basketball
- Girls Basketball:
- Big 8 Player of the Year: Princess Nwachukwu, Madison Memorial
- First Team All-Conference: Avery Blue (Memorial), Nyajuacni Riak (La Follette), Valerie Richardson (East)
- Boys Basketball:
- First Team All-Conference: Ezra Liggon (Memorial), Michael Wilson (West)
Hockey
- Boys Hockey:
- Big 8 Player of the Year: Milo Boyle, Junior, Madison Memorial
- First Team All-Conference: Dmitry Picek, Senior, Madison West
- Girls Hockey:
- The Cap City Cougars co-op, including athletes from East and La Follette, qualified for the state tournament!
Gymnastics
- Drew Bender: 5th Vault, 2nd Beam, 4th All-Around, Big 8 Meet
- Claire Wendler: 5th Beam, Big 8 Meet
Wrestling
- State Qualifiers: Silas Hunter (East), Likita Hodges (La Follette), Henry Miesbauer (West)
- Vel Phillips Memorial Girls Wrestling Team took first place at the Nathan Hale Tournament!
Boys Swim and Dive
- Memorial and West placed 7th and 8th in the state team competition.

- Alex Heinrich (Memorial): State Champion, 200 Free; State Champion, 100 Butterfly

Cheerleading (WACPC State Results)
- Madison East: 5th Place, Varsity Small Non-Tumble All-Girl Division
- Madison La Follette: 2nd Place, Game Day Routine
Springing Forward:
With the arrival of warmer weather, we're excited to welcome our spring sports teams back to outdoor practices and competitions. Track & field is already underway, and we're looking forward to seeing softball, baseball, girls soccer, boys tennis and boys golf take the field and courts soon.
